So it's been an eventful few weeks preparing for an epic Shakespeare Rep of King Lear and As You Like It with Lazarus Theatre Company but we finally open King Lear this week and As You Like It the week after! I'll be playing Edmund in King Lear and Oliver De Boys in As You Like It and I'm very excited about both roles.

Edmund is of course the bastard son of the Earl of Gloucester who decides he is tired of being treated as a second class citizen due to his illegitimate birth and decides the time has come to do something about it. It's been one of the most thought provoking acting experiences I've had trying to discover Edmund as his actions are deplorable however his motives are entirely understandable. I've enjoyed finding the honesty behind his dishonest actions.

Oliver De Boys is similar in many ways to Edmund, he is jealous of his brother because of the love he is shown and willing to do anything to get what he feels he deserves. Fortunately for Oliver, this being a romantic comedy, love prevails and you could say his priorities change!

King Lear and As You Like It run in rep from May 1st until June 2nd at The Space in Canary Wharf. You wouldn't want to miss these epic productions performed in a true Lazarus style!
