"Icarus A Story of Flight" and "Tales from Edgar Allen Poe"

June 23, 2012
It's that time of year again, time to return to some Theatre and Circus performance with Backhand Theatre!

I'm also very happy to announce I'll be playing Icarus in Icarus A Story of Flight which means I'll be doing a lot of flying including a rather exciting doubles trapeze act. This will certainly be an epic show with lots of unusual characters. The original Greek myth tells the tale of Icarus and his father escaping their prison with wings of wax and feathers and the fall of Icarus who flew too close to the sun causing his wax to melt. This is a tale of what happens afterwards. falling into the Ocean did not kill Icarus but he may have needed help to prevent him from drowning. How do you deal with being forced to walk the Earth having known what it is to fly? As long as you continue to dream, you are not stuck anywhere.

Tales from Edgar Allen Poe also promises to be a thrilling experience and certainly spine chillingly scary. I will be playing Monsieur Carron, an orderly at the hospital where a new technique for curing the insane is being pioneered. I won't say any more than that, you'd have to see it but this promises to be a combination of fantastic new writing and classic tales from Edgar Allen Poe himself, featuring the guest voice of Sir Derek Jacobi as the Raven.

There will be previews of Tales from Edgar Allen Poe and Icarus A Story of Flight in the Wilde Theatre at South Hill Park Art Centre on the 20th and 21st of July with a special Industry only showing on Sunday the 22nd. These shows will then transfer to the Edinburgh Festival where they will be performed at C Venues, ECA Main Stage for the entire festival in August. If you wish to see these productions at any point details are below. Hope to see you there!

King Lear / As You Like It - Shakespeare Rep

April 29, 2012
So it's been an eventful few weeks preparing for an epic Shakespeare Rep of King Lear and As You Like It with Lazarus Theatre Company but we finally open King Lear this week and As You Like It the week after! I'll be playing Edmund in King Lear and Oliver De Boys in As You Like It and I'm very excited about both roles.

Edmund is of course the bastard son of the Earl of Gloucester who decides he is tired of being treated as a second class citizen due to his illegitimate birth and decides the t...

New website 05/09/2011

September 5, 2011
Well I've just created my website today (05/09/2011). Currently I'm still in Aberdeen visiting my parents after a long summer at the Edinburgh Festival with Backhand Theatre Company. What a great time it was, 6 great shows, great audiences, some great reviews and a load of new skills learned along the way (really enjoyed the trapeze especially).

Back to London this week though, look forward to reading as Edmund in King Lear for Lazarus Theatre Company on Friday and then auditioning for Don Car...
